in Little Missy

Monday at MOPS set-up Little Missy first spied her friend Madison’s newest semi-permanent hair accessory: feathers.  Little Missy turned to me with her big pretty brown eyes and sweetly asked if she could please oh please get some, too.  I looked at my daughter and thought about how sometimes it’s good to be frugal and sometimes it’s just fun to say yes.  We went to the car, I called my hairstylist and we set the appointment for today.

Yesterday when I woke Little Missy she barely opened her eyes before saying, “Tomorrow I go to the hair salon to get feathers in my hair.”  Then this morning on the way to preschool she was excited to tell Madison about soon getting feathers in her hair, too, and how they’d be twins.  After preschool she told me Bronalea told her that when they put the feather in it tickles but doesn’t hurt at all; apparently Bronalea has one, too.

After school and after lunch Little Missy took her first spin in the hairstylist’s chair and got three feathers.  With all the build-up leading up to this afternoon I’m still waiting for her to jump up and down with joyful exclaims over how much she loves them.  Right now she’s being pretty low-key about the whole thing.

I know she looks underwhelmed, but I'm pretty sure there's raging excitement just underneath the surface.

Her first hairstylist who isn't her mom.

The finished product.
