I’m aware Mother’s Day is a holiday manufactured by the greeting card companies. I’m also aware that the woman who pushed for Mother’s Day to be made a national holiday also worked the rest of her life to take it away once she saw it explode into a commercial gimmick. But I don’t care about all of that. I love Mother’s Day. I really enjoy having a day that my family celebrates me and the role I play in their lives by buying me treats and making me cards.
