We are toying with the idea of buying a new vehicle. A new-to-us vehicle, as I doubt we’ll ever buy a brand new one.
So, thoughts? Where to buy and what to buy? I want to know what you’ve driven, how much room it has, what the gas mileage is like and your favorite dealership.

You won’t want to hear it but my favorite family vehicle was our used Dodge Caravan that hauled us across the country to see Grandpa and Grandma in Kansas when we lived states away. It was roomy, handled well, got great gas mileage, and kept the four sisters far enough away from each other that they fought less. Ha! Since we haven’t bought a vehicle since moving back to Kansas yet I can’t recommend a dealership but we had a great experience with a Kia dealership in South Carolina (the saleman’s name was Drew A. Blanc – I’m not kidding). I pray that God will direct you – buying a car is unnerving!
So Grammy, you convinced Farm Chick and Rockstar to abandon the MAMV club

I’m trying, REALLY TRYING, to keep an open mind on minivans. As of two days ago there were not any in our price range at Carmax within 250 miles of Augusta. Darn

What does everyone think of Chrysler Pacificas? Better gas mileage than a minivan or SUV, but is it too small with the 3rd row?
When we bought our Dodge Caravan (a very nice vehicle, but I’m just not a van girl so we sold it a couple years later), we bought it from Pat Blazy at Parks. Pat was good to us. We felt like he wasn’t trying to squeeze every penny out of us he could, but that he genuinely wanted to help us get into a vehicle for a reasonable price that we would enjoy. He works really hard to get your repeat business, which tells you a lot about someone. When we bought the Camry we have now, we bought it in Topeka–that dealership was worse than a bloodsucking mosquito and looking back, we wish we hadn’t given them our business and felt like we were stupid for buying the Camry from them. We paid too much, and then got terrible service later.
We’ve been toying with the idea of a Pacifica. You might also look at a Mazda 5. Either one will not be as roomy as a minivan, but you know- there is a trade off there.
