Baby Chickadee has this thing where she’ll sit on her bottom, stick out her arms and legs straight in front of her, bend her wrists, curl her fingers and toes while circling her hands and feet around her wrists and ankles as she stares straight at you and makes a staccato ”eheheh!” sound that begins in her belly before escaping from her mouth. It is adorable and her way of telling you she wants something.
Just now I was sitting at the computer, looking at blogs and eating a bread/olive oil combo with Baby Chickadee next to me in her highchair, intermittently feeding her tiny pieces of bread as well. Then she looked at me, let out the “eheheheh!” and I leaned in close. She giggled, grabbed the hair next to my temples, and pulled me next to her. That’s all she wanted. Me to be close to her.
So I laid my head on the tray of her highchair while she clung to my hair and thought about how happy I am, even as I’m getting bread crumbs coated with baby slobber in my hair. My husband, my children… this is perfect.
