- Yesterday afternoon Baby Chickadee sat on my lap and wanted to pull close for a hug. I could tell her intentions by her wiggle, her arms upheld, the big ol’ smile on her face and the tiny squeal that burst out. So I hugged her tight with our cheeks pressed against each other as I rocked her back and forth and she giggled with joy, simply because her mommy squeezed her close.
- Also yesterday afternoon, I sat on the couch and read a book while Little Missy made the two of us train tickets. “Where do you want to go, Mommy? Paris?” she said as she shrugged her shoulders with elbows bent and palms up. I get to be the person who sees her imagination take her into play.
- Yesterday morning I was drying my hair when sleepy G knocked on the bathroom door. I opened it up when he grinned really big and said, “Good morning, Mommy.” Then he let me hug him close and kiss him.
Sometimes those three make my heart burst out of my chest. Some days are tiring with the monotony of dishes and bed-making and mediating fights, but some days are really, really good.

Little things like that make all of it worth it!
