Last year we put up our Christmas tree the weekend before Thanksgiving. Hubby thought that a bit early, but who could deny the happiness of Christmas decorations? This year we put up our Christmas decorations a week after Thanksgiving. I wanted to put them up two weeks earlier but every time G asked “Can we put up the Christmas tree today?” Hubby and I looked at each other and knew that digging into the back of the storage area for the decorations was going to be quite the chore.
Finally on Friday we got around to it, mostly because we promised the kids it would be on Friday night, and after we told them it was a countdown. A two-day countdown, but still a countdown.
Now that they’re six and four they help out quite a bit. They organized the tree branches into piles and then G helped us put them on the tree while Little Missy fluffed the branches. Then Hubby and I unloaded ornaments and the kids put them on. I’ve gotta say, making your kids do the work is the way to go.
Nana buys each of the kids an ornament each year and this year’s was a dog for Little Missy (big surprise). Well Little Missy decided to hang up the ornament next to the kitty ornament so they could talk to each other on the tree. Later the doggy stopped facing the kitty and instead hangs on the tree like this:
Right after I posted this Little Missy saw the picture, smiled and asked, “Oh, do you like the dog booty on there?”
