Last Thursday G told me about his friend’s dad who came to eat lunch with them that day at school.
“Oh, can we do that?” I asked him.
“Yeah! You wanna come and eat with me, too?”
If he’s asking then I’m answering yes. But with Little Missy’s preschool adjourning simultaneous to the start of G’s lunch, we couldn’t eat with him until today, a day that she doesn’t have school.
This morning Little Missy, Baby Chickadee and I got there a little early and waited outside the cafeteria for G’s class. Down the hall they came with G at the end, smiling and waving and proud to have us there. I love that boy.
We followed the kids to the kitchen, picked up our lunches, I paid, and Mrs. O sat us at the end of the table to make room for Baby Chickadee’s stroller. Then we proceeded to eat while kids were excited and laughing and the lunch aides maintained control. I’ve gotta hand it to those women, they have a system and it works. A very fast 20 minutes later we had to clean up our trays and then quietly sit against the wall until the end of lunch. Little Missy, who I watched eat at her normal pace, barely touched her food. That girl is going to have to learn to pick up the speed next year or she’ll waste away.
I loved sitting next to him, watching him talk with his friends while he ate and told me about the lunchroom. This may have to be a regular occurrence.

YAY! I am so glad you got to do that!! I loved eating lunch with Grady last week! I wish Gabe wasn’t too cool for it! I would love to watch Missy and Chicky if you ever want to go by yourself for lunch with G!
Girl, you are crazy!! I stay as far away from that lunch room as possible!! LOL Just kidding, glad you had a nice lunch with the kiddos!
HA!!! I have never done that!!!! You may have concinved me I need to give it a whirl.
Marcie’s comment cracked me up!!!
I haven’t eaten lunch with The Prairie Kid yet. A friend of mine told me that if you want to make your kid the most popular kid in the lunchroom AND love you forever, surprise them with a Happy Meal at school for lunch.
I’ll let you know when I try it and how it goes over. : )
