The other night I was watching TV in the living room while Hubby internet-surfed in the kitchen when I saw an ad for a scary movie and hollered, “I’ll see that one with ya!” He immediately came into the living room because Erin? watch a horror movie?
Back when we lived in Tulsa Hubby and I went to 28 Days Later.
Oh my goodness the terror.
Driving away from the movie theater I looked hard at passing trees, buildings, cars, half-expecting a zombie to lunge at us. In the mornings after Hubby left I would jump out of bed and turn on every light in the house to calm myself down. That movie… the acting, the story line, all of it was so well done, so believable, it seemed the way things would actually go down if the world were infected with rage. If you like scary movies you should see it. It pulls you in. But if you’re like me and get scared easily and then hold on to that fear for a ridiculously long time, stay away.
That movies stay with me for so long is why I hesitate to watch any more Darren Aronofsky movies. Hubby and I, way back when he was simply Mr. Fox and not yet my husband, went to see Requiem for a Dream with some good friends and as we left the theater I couldn’t talk to any of them. I was shaken. I couldn’t wrap my mind around the sadness. For three days that movie was always in the forefront of my mind, and for years afterward I would get teary as I thought about the characters.
I have to be careful with movies. They stay with me.
But the advertisement the other night promised a scary–or rather a make-you-jump–movie that wouldn’t scare me and wouldn’t stay with me. As I told Hubby about it he laughed with disinterest. If he wants me to watch a scary movie he better take me up on this one. It looks ridiculous, right? I can handle ridiculous.

Did you show him the character list. I’m thinking I wouldn’t have a hard time convincing my husband to see a movie with characters titled “wet t-shirt victim.”
You know it’s gotta be ridiculous.
Sami! That is hilarious. I haven’t looked at the character list yet.
