Every day I walk around the house and grumble about how big my belly is. When I bend down to pick up a toy: “Oof.” When I reach over the sink to get some handsoap and can barely reach because of the basketball in my tummy: “Oof.” When I try to roll over in bed and it takes more effort than it should: “Oof.”
You get the idea.
And so does Hubby, and my mom and dad and sister and brother-in-law and closest friends, because I complain to all of them about it.
But in the back of my mind I’m also thinking that my belly isn’t that big, but I’m definitely allowed to complain about it because I’m 38 weeks pregnant, and when you’re 38 weeks pregnant you get to complain about the extra 25 pounds that resides directly in front of you.
Last week we went to dinner with my family and I caught a profile shot of myself in the restaurant’s bathroom mirror as I helped Little Missy. AND MY GOODNESS. My belly is much bigger from the side than it looks from the front, which is the only way I ever take time to look at it in the morning after I’m finished getting dressed. So really, I do have something to complain about.
Behold the enormity:

Er. In. Oh my gosh you are so cute! Hang in there, friend… and maybe move the soap.
Just kidding… you look amazing and you have the glow, baby. The baby glow. All of it, girl.
Um. Girl, you have EVERY right to oof all you want!!! You still look stinkin’ cute even big bellied!!! Hang in there!
You are such a cute pregnant gal!!! Can’t wait to see ALL of you in a couple of weeks!
You complain all you want! I remember when I was pregnant people would come up to me and tell me how my belly wasn’t very big. It used to make me so mad because I don’t care how big so-and-sos belly was, it is still very uncomfortable to be 38 weeks pregnant! I suppose I’d be mad if they came up and told me how big my belly was too. I just think you can complain about anything you want if you’re 38 weeks pregnant:)
Hey Erin…
Anyway… it wasn’t until after you walked away that I remembered why you looked familiar (and your name!). I thought I had seen your blog posted on Heather’s list before, and I just wanted to tell you congratulations! I’m 37 weeks tomorrow and so I totally GET the ‘oof’ noise. (I told my husband I had gotten to the stage of making noise with every movement during my pregnancy and he– mistakingly– said, ‘Honey, you’ve been in that stage for awhile.’). Can’t wait to hear about your new arrival!!!
I don’t know if you remember me from the Meetup group, but I think I was behind you in Target the other day (I was the other mom with an enormous belly and two little ones in tow
Isn’t she gorgeous?!
Renee- Hey! So glad you found me on here and said hello!
