what laughing can lead to

in G, kids are funny, Little Missy, sibling relations

On Saturday we planned to go to Hubby’s hometown to visit the fam because his brother, the soon-to-be-vet brother, was in town with his family and we don’t get to see them all that much.  Then the snow came in and we thought better of it.  But then the snow on our street melted and we figured maybe the rest of the roads would be that clean so we headed out.  And if the roads got a little dicey, who cares?  We have four wheel drive!

Past Leon the snow drifts started covering the road pretty regularly.  Past Beaumont we could barely see the road anymore.  So I called my MIL and asked about the roads further east only to find out the weather indeed got worse the closer to their house we got.  Those pesky weathermen were right!  Hubby and I made the sad decision to turn around and head home.

Cue the tears.

G was sad, Little Missy cried a bit, what with the promise of Grandma and Papa and cousins snatched from them so quickly.  Hubby and I quickly promised pizza and a movie and another camp out.  It didn’t quite make up for lost family time, but it helped a bit.

After the movie and the pizza and some cookies a la mode we tucked them into their tent.  And then the giggling started.  For two hours those kids were LOUD with their giggles.  Suddenly, Hubby and I thought we heard some screaming.  We muted our TV and tried to tell what was going on, since screaming with laughter and screaming in frustration sound awfully similar coming from my kids.  Then G hollered “Mommy!  Daddy!  Little Missy is going to throw up!”

We raced down the stairs to catch any vomit before it landed on sleeping bags and blankets and pillow cases and pillows.  I coaxed Little Missy out of the tent and brought her to the bathroom where she continued screaming.  “Oh, I have throw up in my tummy!”

“Well that’s okay, honey, just throw up in the toilet.”  I cannot handle vomit, so I have to pat myself on the back with how calmly I responded.

“But my clothes will get messy!  OHH!”  And she threw her head back in agony over the thought of getting her orange flower shirt messy.  All the while interjecting a horrible wretching/coughing sound and leaning over the toilet.

That girl has got a flair for the dramatic.

After a minute or two I got her calmed down and we made her realize that she wasn’t sick, only her constant laughing for two hours made her tummy hurt.  If you’re gonna get sick that’s one of the better ways to go about it.  After she calmed down we gave some more kisses and tucked them back into their tent, puke-free.
