you people with your shopping carts

in just me, random-ness

Saturday I took the kids to the $1.10 sale at Goodwill.  A few weeks ago I found a really adorable leather bomber jacket for $30 (although now I think I read the tag wrong and it was probably only $10) and Saturday I was hoping against hope that the jacket would still be there and the Goodwill peeps would honor the spirit and joy of the morning and let me buy it for $1.  I was really hoping.

We arrived in the parking lot at 9:03-ish and the parking lot was FULL.  Some other cars and I were vultur-ing for a spot but never found one.  So I parked by the gas station.  The kids and I made it inside the madhouse and started looking for the jacket.

I would like to say to the people who have a problem with kids in Goodwill to BACK IT UP.  My kids were quiet and giggled with eachother and barely got in your way, so when you give them and me dirty looks you need to BACK IT UP.  It is Goodwill, for goodness’ sake, and you need to get a grip.

I never found the jacket.  Boo.  But I did find a great runner-up and bought it for ONE DOLLAR.  Woot!  The Goodwill peeps are awesome.

As we stood in line and waited our turn to pay another lady was off to the side, waiting for the cart currently in use by the people in front of us.  Those carts are a hot commodity on sale day.  And why are they a hot commodity?  So that they can be stuffed full.  Overflowing.  I watched woman after woman pick up a shirt, barely glance at it, then throw it on top of the heaping pile in the cart.  I know they weren’t trying on all those clothes.  So, Crazy Ladies, you get to go home with 5o items of clothes, but what are the chances all of those are going to fit?  Maybe 10 of them will actually look good on you?  So you’ve just paid Goodwill $40 to buy clothes that don’t fit, take them home to try them on and really find out they don’t fit, then drive them back to the store and donate them?  I can think of much better ways to spend $40.  And not glare at cutie-pie kids in the process.

How do I not know about this sale? How could you not invite me? We could have playdate there, just for funsies.

Angela- I will totally tell you next time I find out! Usually they have the sale the Saturday before a holiday.

Kristine and Angela- We should totally overload them with adorable and well-behaved children! Those cranky ladies wouldn’t know what to think.
