Strange; this topic was on my mind today before I read this. I ran to the grocery store with Brandon today, and I always dole out the obligatory candy while we are grocery shopping, candy that I would never let pass my lips. I eat extremely nutritious cereal with fruit every morning, but Brandon won’t even eat breakfast. I am hyper-alert about what I put in my own mouth, but I don’t feel like I am nearly vigilant enough about what goes in my kids’ mouths. I mean, Brandon did not eat a single thing all day today. Seriously, nothing but the candy (a sucker) in the store all day. And that is totally normal. How does he weigh 42 pounds?
I have the philosophy that my kiddos are only little once! My mom was not health conscience AT ALL…I was allowed to have cupcakes for breakfast, there was never fruit in the house—I have however found a happy medium between my mom’s way and being a nutcase that never allowed a piece of chocolate to enter my little darling’s mouths! Moderation is key and it seems that by not sheltering the boys from the “bad stuff” they really do not care about having it! They both love their strawberries, bananas, apples, and brocolli, but they love a good chocolate from time to time!
I’m a woman who loves Jesus, my husband, my children, and everyday I try to show my love more completely to them. I also like to laugh and be with friends. And as of December 2008, I'm a weekly newspaper columnist. You can reach me at erinslittlecorneroftheworld@gmail.com.

I sometimes “lovingly” call my little ones chickens…because sometimes I feel pecked to death…I mean that in the most loving and caring way : )
