Observations

in He is good

A little less than a year ago a man I greatly respect named Charlie Middlebrook offered me the chance to write a piece in a book he had already started.

Today I received many copies of that book, that book he so graciously let me be a part of.

The book is titled Observations.  It is Charlie through most of it and me through a little of it, looking at the world with all its joys and its sorrows, knowing that we can never fully understand the God who put it all in motion.  And knowing that not fully understanding is okay.  Because while we make our way through this life our God is with us, through all of our joys and all of our sorrows.

I read other’s blogs so that I can say “Me, too!  I’ve felt that way, too!”  And I write my blog and my column so that others will say “Me, too!  I’ve felt that way, too!”  I think that is the premise of this book, to say “Me, too.”  As Charlie said it in the preface:

We are pilgrims, all of us, not yet home, not always knowing the way home, but journeying on, usually with lightheartedness, even mirth, as we travel.

Sometimes storms affront us, threatening, even exacting great loss, confusing us, wounding us.  In those times we are not light-hearted, but downcast.

When not focused on the demands of the journey we look around us, at our world, observing, remembering, sharing with others our observations.

                Who knows, maybe someone will

        benefit by what we see.

You can buy a copy [send me an email at erinslittlecorneroftheworld@gmail.com and I'll get a copy to you].  Charlie and I are not receiving any money for it, but all of the money will benefit Impact Houston Church of Christ, a group of believers who love Jesus, love others, and are reaching out to the young, the old, the homeless, helping them through their pain with Jesus’ love.

I would love to have one. Let me know how much and I’ll put it in the budget for the month of May. :)
