this one is going to come back and bite us

Lately Little Missy has been on a discovery of new foods – peas, eggs, bacon, green beans, cheese roll-ups.  Nothing terribly exciting, I’ll grant you that, but foods out of her normal yogurt-oatmeal-banana rotation that bores me.  It’s not the only food I eat, but I get bored watching her eat a banana, and only a banana, every morning for breakfast.

Sitting at the dinner table last week, happily eating her eggs and bacon, she declared “Penner likes eggs!”  Penner is her cousin, the only elder girl cousin of the bunch, and apparently Little Missy wants to follow in her footsteps.

Now when we eat dinner Hubby will say “Penner likes meatloaf!”  And Little Missy will look at G, G will nod his head, and we’ll all agree that Penner does indeed like meatloaf.

But Penner does not like meatloaf.

At least I’m pretty sure she doesn’t.

Penner, while a precious little girl, is also an incredibly picky eater.  Her mother Ang has told us of many times that Penner goes to bed without eating dinner, simply because she refuses to try what’s on her plate.

Seeing the train wreck ahead—the time where Little Missy asks Penner if she likes meatloaf and Penner scrunches up her nose and says “NO!”—I have been telling Little Missy that Gabe and Grady like meatloaf.  Gabe is a pretty good eater, and I think with him there is a smaller likelihood of lying to my daughter.
