Looking back over my past year of blogging, I love the posts where I talk about what my kids were doing and how they were growing. So here’s another one.
G:
G is nearly finished with his first year of preschool and I’ve seen him blossom because of the experience. In these last few months he has gained so much confidence — he no longer lurks in doorways, waiting for me to walk with him in to classrooms or playdates; now he runs in and joins the fun. He’s losing his fear of saying hello to friends when we see them in public.
G is still very aware of other people and what they like. One time a tractor drove on the street in front of our house. “Oh, Mommy! B [best friend] would love that tractor, wouldn’t he?” Another time we were at Target when he saw baby shoes and wanted me to buy them for his baby cousin Sophia. Any time we’re out and see a princess anything he wants us to buy it for his sister.
Little Missy:
She loves her brother and copies everything he does. If he laughs, she laughs. If he decides to run around the yard then she runs around the yard. One of her favorite things to do is dance like Sleeping Beauty at the end of the movie, and a few times a day she asks Gee-Goo (what she calls her brother) to dance with her. Usually he’ll grudgingly do it for a little while. Friday she asked him to dance with her when their friends were over playing and he said no because he didn’t want his friends to see.
Anytime Little Missy gets something for herself she’ll get one for G, too. If she’s getting a pretzel or some gum she gets one for her brother without being prompted.
Most of the time they’re precious together. They run around and squeal and play and giggle. Lately the only fights I’ve been breaking up are when G is giving too many hugs to his sister and she’s annoyed. I can see both sides on that one. But it’s pretty cute.
Hubby:
He continues to amaze me. After working 8 hours, or 10 hours some days, he still comes home and gets on the floor and rough houses with his kids. They get tossed on the couch and rides on his back and they all play tag in the front yard. Then after they’re in bed he still has time to listen to me analyze everything that’s happened to me during the day.
I love my family.
